Finally, we got the shiny new next-generation iPhones from Apple. It carries the top-notch hardware that’s offer best performance and battery life ever in an iPhone. Most of all for the first time iPhones are now water and dust resistant.

Introducing the all new Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus with an extra emphasis on new black and jet black color variant. Well, what changed? everything from the home button, cameras, retina display, processor, speaker system and finally the ditching of 3.5mm audio jack.

First, let’s start with the pricing and availability. Both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be going on sale in India from 7th October 2016. The price starts at Rs 60,000 which is the base model of iPhone 7 with the 32GB storage option.

Design & Performance

Design-wise Apple iPhones are now a bit shinier. They are constructed with incredibly strong 7000 Series aluminum and goes through the nine-step process of anodization and polishing. We got two new color option, black with a matte finish and high-gloss jet black. Other color option includes the silver, gold, and rose gold.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus comes with a new wide color gamut for their Retina HD display, offering cinema-standard colors. The iPhone 7 flaunts a 4.7-inch retain HD display with a resolution of 1334×750 pixel and the iPhone 7 Plus flaunts a 5.5-inch retain HD display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixel. This beautiful screen also comes deeply integrated with 3D Touch.

The home button has gone an overhaul in the new iPhones. It now comes with Apple’s taptic engine that offers tactile feedback as you press. One can also customize the functionality of the home button to their needs.

Under the hood, the new iPhones are powered by the A10 Fusion processor that comes with two high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores. It also comes embedded with M10 motion coprocessor. As for storage both iPhones base variant starts at 32GB internal storage and goes way up to 128GB and 256GB storage options.

Camera

The iPhone 7 comes with a 12-megapixel camera on the back with a f/1.8 aperture and a six-element lens. It also comes with optical image stabilization to reduce those handshakes and Quad-LED true tone flash. The camera can shoot 4K resolution videos along with slo-mo videos and timelapse videos. Up to the front, we got a 7-megapixel FaceTime HD camera with f/2.2 aperture.

No, it doesn’t stop there, the iPhone 7 Plus comes more equipped for your photography needs. The smartphone comes with two 12-megapixel cameras on the back, one is a wide-angle lens and other a telephoto lens. We can get super sharp close-up with 2x optical zoom or get even closer with its 10x digital zoom.

Another highlighted feature is the depth-of-field effect that allows you to create the blurred background on portrait shots, just like in DSLR.

Audio

First RIP to the 3.5mm audio jack, Apple has done away with the age old 3.5mm audio jack. Instead, the new iPhones uses the lightning port for the audio. But still, if you need to use your old headphones, Apple is packing a 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter in the box.

Apple has also introduced new AirPods that offers wireless audio experience. It comes equipped with Apple-designed W1 chip and uses infrared sensors to detect when they’re in your ears.

Another addition to the iPhones is the stereo speaker system. Embedded on both top and bottom, the speaker system offers two times the audio output of iPhone 6s and increased dynamic range.

Water and Dust resistant

Finally, the iPhones will be more durable thanks to the IP67 protection standard. Both iPhones are water and dust resistant, so you can be safe from spills, splashes, and dust.

Connectivity and Software

Both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus support 4G LTE advanced with VoLTE. It supports all 4G bands of Indian telecom operators. In addition, it comes with other connectivity options like 3G and 2G network support, WiFi with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS, and GLONASS. For that extra security, we got the second generation fingerprint sensor built into the new Home button. As for the software, the new iPhone 7 runs on the iOS 10.
