After the strategic partnership with India Post to reach out the deepest parts of the country, Amazon India has launched its premium shipping service. The guaranteed ‘One-Day Delivery’ service from Amazon India is offered on items fulfilled by Amazon in selected Indian cities including Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Pune.
Amazon One-Day Delivery offers customers with guaranteed next-day delivery of the item ordered through Amazon. Customers will need to place orders within the time frame listed by Amazon on the eligible product page. Customers from Mumbai and Pune can place orders as late as midnight to receive the items next day and for other pin codes the time frame to place orders under this offer is currently 3.00 pm. For this service Amazon will be charging a premium of Rs 99 per order and requires no minimum order value.
Eligible customers (when providing their PIN code) will be provided with the option of one-day delivery while checking out their orders and its only applicable for items that are Fulfilled by Amazon.
Under the ‘One Day Delivery service Amazon guarantees to deliver the items within the next business day excluding Sundays and public holidays. If in any case Amazon fails to deliver the item by the promised day, it will automatically refund the shipping charges.
In addition Amazon is also offering two-day delivery service that guarantees ordered item delivery within two days for a premium of Rs 79 per order and has wider availability.
India’s top online retailer Flipkart is also planning for such a premium delivery service and recently it held a survey asking its customers “if they are willing to pay Rs 80 for quick delivery“. With Amazon jump starting the premium delivery service in India, Flipkart will also follow the path.
