We don’t like limits on things that we paid for, even if we never reach that limit to get restricted. India’s largest telecom operator Airtel had a fair usage policy (FUP) limit on the voice calls on their unlimited combo plans. But with competition intensifying and when it’s valued subscribers started complaining about it, the telco had to listen.

In an updated terms and conditions, the telco has removed the daily and weekly voice calling cap on its unlimited combo plans. “It is clarified and stated that this Offer is only meant for personal and non-commercial use, and is not intended for any commercial use, or special or enterprise plans.

This means the telco, no more limits its subscribers from doing unlimited voice calls. You have the full freedom of calling day and night to any network across India without paying anything extra (after recharging for the unlimited combo plans). The only condition here is that it’s meant for personal and non-commercial use.

Also, “Airtel reserves the right to end/ suspend/modify the Offer at all times, as well as in specific cases of commercial use, or any fraudulent use“. The telco can modify this terms at any time, so do check regularly their terms and condition. Or check the terms of any plans with Airtel customer care before recharging.

Unfortunately, the new terms from Airtel won’t reflect for mobile subscribers in Tamil Nadu/Chennai telecom circle. These subscribers will have the default daily and weekly limits, with charges for any calls after the FUP limit.

For those unaware, Airtel earlier limited voice calls under its unlimited combo plans. You were limited to 250 minutes of voice calls per day and 1000 minutes per week. Anything over the FUP limit would cost you up to 30 paise per minute for local and STD voice calls.

The telco recently announced ‘Airtel Prepaid Promise‘ where every user in a particular telecom circle can recharge for an open market mobile plan and everyone will get the same voice and data benefits. The new terms and conditions, change may be related and part of this announcement.
