Bharti Airtel has renewed its contract with telecom gear manufacturer Ericsson for pan-India managed network operations. Under the three-year deal, the telco will be launching laters Ericsson Operation Engine.

Ericsson under the renewed contract with Airtel would deploy the latest automation, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies that would enhance the telco’s existing and new mobile network performance and customer experience. The telecom gear maker would also manage the telco’s network operations center and field maintenance activities across all 22 telecom circles.

Ericsson would be using its state-of-the-art machine learning/AI-enabled Cognitive Software Suite to provide Network Optimization Services, combining multi-vendor networks expertise. This, in turn, will help Airtel to deliver a better customer experience. Also, this would ensure a superior return from the telcos deployed network assets.

We are pleased to strengthen our deep partnership with Ericsson as part of our vision to build a future-ready network that enables world-class experience for our customers. We are confident these new technologies will enable us to serve the emerging data requirements of customers in a digitally connected India,” Randeep Sekhon, Chief Technology Officer, Bharti Airtel said in a press statement.

The original contract between Airtel and Ericsson was signed back in 2016. At that time, the deal covers the telecom gear manufacturer managing the telcos 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks across all 22 telecom circles in the country.

We would also see Airtel and Ericsson technology and services partnership during the upcoming live 5G trails.
