Aircel and BSNL customers can now enjoy better network connectivity when travelling across states. The private telecom operator Aircel has signed a 2G pan India intra-circle roaming agreement with the government-owned telecom operator BSNL.
With this pact, Aircel can widen its network reach with massive BSNL tower infrastructure across the country and both companies can improve their network connectivity as well as quality.
“With this strategic tie-up, both organisations will be able to enhance customer experience besides utilising each other’s assets and network strength,” Aircel said in a statement.
BSNL has the second largest mobile tower infrastructure in the country with around 1.14 lakh mobile towers and premium 900MHz spectrum which the company is using for 2G services.
“We are looking at a revenue potential of Rs 500 crore on an annual basis through ICR agreements with other operators” commented Anupam Shrivastava, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director to PTI.
With this intra-circle roaming agreement, both companies will be utilizing each other’s assets and network strength to enhance customer experience.
