Yahoo India Movieplex

Yahoo! India, today launched a premium video destination “Movieplex” (in.movies.yahoo.com/movieplex), allowing Indian users to enjoy licensed, piracy-free full-length Indian ( currently Bollywood ) movies on demand for free in High definition.

Just some months ago only Youtube lauched Youtube BoxOffice in India which provided free full length Indian movies. So taking the same path, Yahoo has now launched Movieplex in India, which features HD quality Indian movies. Currently Yahoo! Movieplex have around 8 bollywood movies which includes the recent BoxOffice hits like Rakht Charitra -I, Rakht Charitra -II, Aakrosh, Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji,Rock On!!, Rann, Lamhaa and Crook.

Yahoo! India is trying to collaborate and partner with leading movie production houses like Sony, Reliance BIG, UTV etc to bring thousands of “Bollywood” and other Indian languages movies online to users for a piracy-free, quality entertainment experience.  So we can expect lots more Indian movies on Movieplex.

Arun Tadanki, Managing Director, Yahoo! India said on the launch, “Over 30 million Internet users consume 1.7 billion videos every month across India*. With the increasing demand for online video, both consumers and content providers are looking for a trusted destination where quality content can be consumed in a piracy-free environment at their leisure. Movieplex is an example of how Yahoo! connects people to what matters to them the most and Indian movie lovers now have the best full-length movies available to them at their convenience.”

A key advertiser on Movieplex, Mr. L.K. Gupta, Chief Marketing Officer, LG Electronics commented, “The growth in online video viewing has been exponential and movies are passionately followed by the Indian audience online. We are delighted to work with Yahoo! on the launch of Movieplex and through our association, we aim to deliver the LG Cinema 3D Smart TV* proposition to millions of deeply engaged Yahoo! consumers. ”

Only restrictions we have now seems to be the Internet connectivity with Slow and limited data usage plans. Unlimited broadband plans are now costly and of very low-speed ( around 256kbps – 512kbps ). Hope with the introduction of 3G this situation will change.

So now we can watch lots of latest and old Indian movies live fully free, without any downloading or fear of piracy. Do comment your views on it.
