After the announcement of budget-friendly Desire 210, HTC India has unveiled another mid-range smartphone – the Desire 816, that enriches its smartphone line-up in India. Priced competitively at Rs 23,990 the smartphone features a 5.5-inch display, Quad Core processor, 13MP camera and runs on Android with HTC Sense UI on top.

Eyeing on the bigger form-factor that Samsung has taken advantage of with its Galaxy Grand devices, HTC Desire 816 spots a 5.5 inch HD 720p display, bringing it to the phablet range.

HTC Desire 816 is powered by a 1.6Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 1.5GB RAM. It got a 13 megapixel camera on the back with BSI sensor and f/2.2, 28mm lens that can shoot full HD 1080p videos. On the front it got a 5 megapixel camera also with BSI sensor and supports full HD recording. It carries 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB using microSD card. It runs on Android Jelly Bean with HTC sense UI on top with support for HTC’s popular BlinkFeed.

On the connectivity side the Desire 816 supports 4G LTE (but doesn’t support Indian LTE band), 3G and GPRS/EDGE, along with Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0 and NFC.

Another highlighted feature of the phablet is the Dual frontal stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers coupled with HTC BoomSound technology.

HTC Desire 816 will be available on all leading online and offline stores by the end of April 2014. With Desire 816, HTC brings challenge to the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo and similar devices with bigger displays in the price range.
