The BIG report is here, after Bing published its 2013’s top search trends for India, Facebook revealed the 2013 Year in Review and YouTube revealed the Rewind 2013 India, its time for the world’s top search engine Google to reveal how India searched in 2013. As we are nearing to the end of 2013 Google has once again released Zeitgeist 2013, the annual list of the most popular searches of this year.

This time Google Zeitgeist 2013 has around 1,000+ top 10 lists across categories like Trending People, Most-Searched Events and Top Trending Searches from 72 countries. In addition Google has built an interactive 3D global map (Zeitgeist 2013 Globe) showcasing the top search trends of 2013 by day in cities around the world.

Looking back how India Searched in 2013: Google Zeitgeist

In India, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) become the most searched on Google India. As IRCTC is the hottest online destination among Indians for train ticket booking. Following it is the online cricket destination “Cricinfo” and India’s biggest online retail store “Flipkart“. Online banking sites HDFC, SBI and Axis bank along with India’s job destination SSC and IBPS also got into the top ten most searched keywords .

On to the top trending search of 2013 Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express created all the buzz and topped the chart followed by IPL 2013 and musical hit movie Aashiqui 2.

Katrina Kaif rules among Bollywood divas as she becomes the top searched Bollywood female actor in India followed by Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kappo. On top searched Bollywood male actors Salman Khan has real lead over Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. Music hit movie Aashiqui 2 become the most searched movie in India during 2013 followed by Chennai Express and Krrish 3. Yet to release Dhoom 3 has already making waves and its in the fourth position of most searched Indian movie.

Google India Top search keywords, and top trending keywords in 2013

On to the news events happened around India, the discussions and political drama around PM candidate of Narendra Modi topped the chart followed by the rumors on Blackberry sale and Rahul Dravid retirement. BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi is again in the top chart as among the top searched Politicians in India followed by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and their president Sonia Gandhi. Among most searched people in India Bollywood sensation Sunny Leone topped the chart followed by Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.

Among most searched Sportsperson the Cricket God Sachin Tendulkar created the top buzz followed by Mikha Singh whose popularity rose during the super hit movie “Bhag Milkha Bhag” and Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

In the gadget space Samsung Galaxy S4 become the top searched mobile in India during 2013 followed by Nokia Lumia 520 and Micromax Canvas 2.
