Google New Project Pays You to Surf and Give Up Privacy

That’s right, Google will now pay you for surfing the internet if you are willing to give up privacy and signup for the new project named “Screenwise“. Google pays you about $25 a year, but not in the form of hard money, but as Amazon gift coupon. So if a user willing to participate in the new Google project Screenwise, need to give up privacy and should share the data of their web surfing habits with Google by installing an extension on Google Chrome browser.

Google is building a new panel to learn more about how everyday people use the Internet. The new project is called Screenwise. As a panelist, users add a Chrome browser extension that will share with Google the sites users visit and how user use them. What Google learn from you, and others like you, will help us improve Google products and services and make a better online experience for everyone.

In exchange of this sharing data, Google’s our panel management partner, Knowledge Networks, will give you a $5 Amazon.com Gift Card code instantly when you sign up and download the Google Screenwise browser extension. Then you’ll get additional $5 Amazon.com Gift Card codes every three months for staying with it. It’s Google way of saying “Thank you.”

So wish to participate, you must be 13 or older, have a Google Account (or sign up for one), and need to use Google Chrome browser. Google has guaranteed that no personal data will be used for the study. As a response to Search Engine Land, Google saysLike many other web and media companies, we do panel research to help better serve our users by learning more about people’s media use, on the web and elsewhere. This panel is one such small project that started near the beginning of the year. Of course, this is completely optional to join. People can choose to participate if it’s of interest (or if the gift appeals) and everyone who does participate has complete transparency and control over what Internet use is being included in the panel. People can stay on the panel as long as they’d like, or leave at any time.

There has been report about an additional web surfing program of installing a “high-end router” Screenwise Data Collector, which will provide much better payment like $100 for signup and $20 per month up to one year’s involvement into the whole program.
