Facebook brings back Gifting Service – Send the Perfect Gifts to friends

Facebook relaunching an old feature the “Facebook Gifts” which allow users to buy and send real gifts to their friends. Facebook has tried this feature two years before in the name “Gift Shop” but was discontinued in 2008. Currently the new Facebook Gifts feature being slowly roll out to US users.

Facebook Gifts will make it easy for users to buy real gifts for their friends to celebrate birthdays, new jobs and other big moments. They just need to pick out the perfect gift, add a personalized message and it’s ready to ship. The exact way the feature works is that – If you want to send a gift to your friend on his/her birthday,then you need to head over to the friend’s timeline and click on the Gift icon at the top and pick out an item a gift item. It may be a pack full of Chocolates, flowers,  household goods, tshirts or any of the other goodies.  After selecting the gift you can add a personal message to the card. Review the whole thing and then just click Give Gift to send it to your friend. You can choose to pay for gifts right away, or wait until your friend enters their shipping info.

Once the gift being send Facebook will notify your friend and ask for their address to where the gift need to be sent. They can customize the gift by choosing a different size, color or style or can even swap it for another similarly priced gift before it ships. Your friend to whom you have sent a gift won’t see the price of the gift. After confirming the address and the gift, Facebook in partnership with various business providers will ship the item.
