It’s been always trouble when you find a damaged or defective product get delivered at your home. Then comes the bigger hassle of returning the product and getting the refund.
Well, this won’t be the case if your shop at Amazon India. The Indian e-commerce company has launched a new service called ‘Inspect & Buy’. This gives you the option to inspect the ordered product at the time of delivery and instantly return the item if it is damaged/defective.
So basically you are free to open the box and check the product for any damages or defects, before actually accepting the product. If you find the product not as described then you can instantly return it.
How does it work? Inspect and Buy are especially useful when buying refurbished or used products. Amazon delivers the product to your doorstep and at the time of delivery you may open the box, inspect the product before deciding to accept it. Actually, you got two days time period to fully evaluate the product and request a return.
If you do not like the product or found any damaged/defective you can instantly return the product. If you had already paid for the item then the entire amount will be credited back in two days. Wheres if you have chosen cash on delivery (COD) option then you pay only if you decide to accept the item.
Inspect and Buy features
- Open the box and check the product quality at the time of delivery.
- If the purchased item is not as described, is defective or damaged, you can request a return within 2 days of receiving the item.
- If you have already paid for the item, then you will get a refund within 2 days. If ordered on COD then pay only if you decide to accept the item.
- No questions asked Return Pickup.
- Free return pickup would be provided if the product needs to be returned.
- All Inspect & Buy products come with the free delivery option.
Do note that you Amazon’s A to Z claims do not apply to Inspect & Buy products. Also, you can return the product for refunds only and not a replacement. Currently, the feature seems to live in selected Bengaluru pin codes.
Amazon India Inspect and Buy applies to all products sold by individuals and home entrepreneurs. This is products which are mostly not ‘Amazon Fulfilled’ or refurbished/used products and where Amazon is not sure about the product quality. You can also instantly identify these products, as there will be an ‘Inspect & Buy’ label on the product details page.
Currently, Amazon Inspect and Buy applies to a certain section of products. This includes books, mobiles, tablets, laptops, watches, video games, home décor and furnishing, fashion, jewellery, handbags, women’s clothing and baby clothing.
You may remember that Amazon recently updated its return and refund policy to no longer offer a refund in return. With Inspect and Buy, you are actually getting two days of return window for electronic products. Thus a hassle-free shopping without worrying about the product quality.
